Zero to Zen: A Guide to Mastering Your Emotions (Or At Least Pretending To)

Updated: Aug 16, 2023

Emotions can be tricky to handle, much like a TV series that keeps throwing in unexpected plot twists. But don't worry, my friend, I have the perfect guide to help you fake your way to emotional maturity.

Step 1: Know Yourself

It is important that we seize a moment to reflect on your triggers and ask ourselves why we react in certain ways. But don't take too long. Instead, visualize yourself in a positive scenario, like accepting an award or achieving a goal, and let that positive energy flow through you.

Step 2: Take a Deep Breath

If and when emotions is high, you got to take a deep breath, count one to ten, and always tell yourself that getting angry won't get your anywhere.

Try to visualize yourself in a calming environment, like sipping a refreshing drink in a relaxing atmosphere.

Step 3: Be the Bigger Person

Responding maturely can be difficult, but it's important to use "I" statements, express your feelings without blaming others, and resist the urge to say "I told you so." If things get really tough, break out into a fun dance or sing a silly song to lighten the mood.

Step 4: De-escalate the Situation

When you de-escalate you will see yourself giving compliment, and if not enough try changing the topic and if still wont go away, you must try the old familiar way of just singing. But for whatever reason this don't work make sure to avoid singing anything too irritating, like "Baby Shark."

By using a little imagination and self-control, you can handle emotional situations like a pro. Remember, emotional maturity is an important skill to that we should hone.

May you conquer the world with a smile on your face!
